Fish Bowls Are Coming to Quincy Market, Courtesy of Legal Sea Foods

By Dana Hatic

Legal Sea Foods plans to capitalize on its successful foray into the fast-casual food business with an expansion of Kendall Square’s Legal Fish Bowl concept to an area that’s an epicenter of tourism in Boston. A second Legal Fish Bowl will debut in Quincy Market in early spring, with a simple yet customizable menu of seafood bowls and the brand’s signature New England clam chowder.

The forthcoming Fish Bowl at Faneuil Hall Marketplace will offer a modern take on the classic Legal Sea Foods style, which has been a key player in Boston’s seafood scene for years, since the restaurant first opened in 1968. The location in Downtown Boston spans 850 square feet, featuring design work from The Moseley Group, which is based in Franklin, MA.

Embracing the customizable bowl format popularized by Chipotle, Legal Fish bowl offers a range of seafood, chicken, and vegetable protein options atop rice, greens, or noodles. Those opting to create a bowl choose from those proteins and bases, as well as sides, toppings, and dressings.

There are also six signature dishes, which come with pre-set ingredients. One such bowl is served with sesame ginger tuna poke, jasmine rice, seaweed salad, charred broccoli, kimchi, radishes, and nori furikake.
